Maintenance and Grounds

I consider it a privilege and blessing to be part of the staff here at The Refuge. I am a Greene County native, born and raised just a few miles from The Refuge itself. In fact, some of the land, that now is part of the camp, used to be my great grandfather’s! God has truly instilled in me the love of His creation. I have paddled up and down the Contentnea Creek all my life, enjoying fishing, canoeing and hunting. Between spending leisure time on the creek or in the woods, and my love for scouting, I developed a respect and love for the outdoors. I worked on my daddy’s hog farm for many years, learning to fix just about anything that broke on the farm. I have spent the last ten years working in commercial construction as a superintendent with Farrior and Son’s. I am married to my best friend, Kirsten. She graduated from ECU with degrees in both Geography and Special Education. Together, we have 7 beautiful children and are blessed to be able to homeschool them in the same house that I grew up in. God has blessed this ‘ole country boy beyond measure and I want Him to use me here however He sees fit.

Kirsten and I see The Refuge as part of our family and we hope to use each of our talents and gifts to serve Him in this ministry. We would love to meet you, so come on down and allow us to show you around. You will be amazed at what God has done and continues to do.
