I live in Kinston with my wife Lindsay and our 3 kids. Eastern North Carolina is a great place to raise a family and we love the integrated nature of life in a small town.
Working with the Refuge is a great honor. We fully affirm the mission and vision of the Camp and love seeing God transform this place and transform hearts and minds. Especially the hearts and minds of under-resourced kids in our community and being a place of rest and retreat for churches, pastors and ministries.

I am married to Dr. Susan Morphis, who owns Willow Grove Animal Clinic in Farmville. We have 4 boys, Hunter, Spencer, Nathan and Sam. We love to travel to National Parks and hike as well as snow ski out West! We are both uniquely involved in Vanceboro church and Susan works with students at Farmville Presbyterian Church. We love the mission of the Refuge and see the lives changed for Christ as a result of its ministry.
Matt Harrenstein – Global Engineering Manager – Wake County
My wife (Jennifer), my two children (Jacob 16 and Madeline 13) and I live, worship, play and serve in the Fuquay-Varina area (Southern Wake County). We are active in our local faith community (FVUMC) where Jennifer is the Director of Music Ministries, Jacob plays guitar on our worship team and just earned the privilege/responsibility of being an Eagle Scout and Madeline is journeying through 8th grade confirmation and dancing most every other moment of the day. I enjoy working with our youth and participating with God in forming the hearts of young people through our church youth Life Groups, in Scouting and by experiencing the outdoors (avid backpacker).
