Christmas is coming and, with it, our favorite celebration of the birth and life of Christ! Come see us for Light at the Refuge! The Drive-Thru, as in years before, is free. There is a donation box at the end, but it is not required. We are excited to have you as our guest!

Back for 2024! Enjoy an old-fashioned horse-drawn or tractor-drawn wagon ride around camp and through the lights. Space is limited. Advance tickets for these rides can be purchased online starting November 1st. New this year! We’re excited to offer food truck vendors to help you make a day of it with the ones you love.

Tractor Wagon Rides available every night of the event— $10/person
Horse Wagon Rides available Friday and Saturday nights in December before Christmas, and Monday, December 23— $15/person

Frequently Asked Questions

• How much does it cost?
  It is free to drive through Light at The Refuge! We do accept donations at the end if you would like to give, but it is not required. Additionally, we offer pre-sale tickets for tractor wagon rides for $10 per person and horse wagon rides for $15 per person. Prices listed are per person. Children ages 2 and under are free with an accompanying adult.
• Are there bathrooms?
  We do have a portable bathroom across from the entrance for anyone to use.
• Can I get out of my car?
  Please do NOT get out of your car once you have been waved into the light show! Because it is dark and many cars are in the area, for your own safety we ask everyone to remain in your vehicles while driving through. If you would like to get out to use the bathroom, purchase concessions, or take group pictures, you may do so across the street at our designated parking area.
• Can I take pictures?
  Yes! Please stay inside your vehicle while taking pictures.
• Where do I go for Wagon rides?
  If you are riding a wagon through the light show, you will park across the street from the entrance to Light at The Refuge. After parking, make your way to the check-in table to let us know you’re here. While you are waiting to load the wagon, you may visit our concession stand, hang out by the fire, or play games. Our staff will announce when it is time to load your wagon.
• What if I can’t make it to my Wagon ride
  Tickets for wagon rides are non-refundable. If you need to change your date, please call the camp office at (252) 746-4766. You may also give your tickets to a friend or family member if you are unable to make it. Please make sure to forward them the receipt email so they have proof of a ticket.
• How long is the wait?
  Wait times vary depending on weather and the day. Thursday nights tend to be the least busy, and wait times increase the closer it gets to Christmas. We do our best to keep the wait time under 30 minutes.
• What if Light at The Refuge is canceled due to weather?
  If your session is canceled because of poor weather conditions, you may call the office (252-746-4766). We will work to resolve your situation by either rescheduling your group if possible or refunding your tickets.

Also note: Ticket sales for each session close 24 hours in advance. There may be some tickets available for purchase upon arrival, but these will be limited and are on a first-come-first-served basis.
